FrustratedNewbie Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Hello, I've just downloaded trials for Photo, Publisher & Designer recently. When opening, I sign in to the Affinity account, but it says it's unable to verify my licence. Naturally, I thought this was odd but didn't mind so much, but now I cannot access the software at all. Is the free trial period covered by a licence code of some description, could I perhaps enter it manually? Thank you in advance for any help you can offer, FN
Komatös Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Hello @FrustratedNewbie and welcome to the forums. A license is not required for the trials! The programs are/should be usable for 180 days without restriction. I had assumed that was the case but as soon as I run the software which I've just downloaded recently, I'm asked to sign in, and it automatically checks for a licence. The first time I thought it would perhaps verify that I was simply in the trial period and then not ask again but that didn't happen. I downloaded the trial versions for macOS directly from the Affinity website on the downloads page where it clearly says each program's name followed by the words free trial, so I'm unsure what the issue is. I do note that I have two trials showing on that page (both dated 28th September).
walt.farrell Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 A couple of thoughts: You might verify that the time and date are set correctly on your computer. Komatös Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Perhaps the following will help: Hold down the CTRL key and start the program. A Clear Userdata screen should appear. Scroll down and select the last entry. Then confirm with Clear! FrustratedNewbie Posted October 5, 2024 Author Posted October 5, 2024 Unfortunately, neither of your replies worked. While checking them out though, I realised that it was a connectivity issue. The talk about the licence only confuses matters. When checking the connection via the help menu, it confirmed there was no access to the servers. Since that connection testing tool is already written, I imagine the developers could simply show a message if they couldn't confirm the licence due to such issues (as opposed to issues on their end etc). A quick change in my firewall configuration allowed the initial connection to be made and I'm now up and running. Thank you both for your assistance.
