"Common Blue" butterfly, for my UK and Irish friends (apparently native to southern England and Ireland). All done in Affinity Designer and the Pixel Persona.

Nice work. The only thing I would work on a bit are the antennae. If you make them thinner toward the head and a bit thinner overall I think they would look a bit more natural. Right now they kind of stick out as looking kind of harsh against the softness of the butterfly.

@KarinC Thanks for the excellent suggestion. It does look better with thinner, more tapered antennae. 😊

Wow! Blue birds (Indigo Buntings) and blue butterflies! You're so lucky, Ldina! 😃

Thanks, Del....please note that the "Common Blue" butterfly is native to the southern UK and Ireland! A friend of mine saw them when she was visiting England and loved them, so I created this illustration for her. I just printed it to 8-½ X 11 inches and mailed it to her, so I'll be curious to hear her reaction.

You're right. I have seen these pale blue butterflies in the UK, but they're not as common as they used to be. Tortoiseshell, Peacock, Orange Tip, Meadow Brown and Red Admirals and the common white butterflies I see all the time. Occasionally, I see the yellow butterfly (Brimstone), which is a pale lemony yellow and very beautiful...

Let me know her reaction. I'm sure she'll love it... 🙂

"Cabbage White" is a vague name mostly applied to the Large White (Pieris brassicae), but sometimes to the Small White and the Green-veined White.
