Affinity Photo Application taking up 100gb

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody

Has anyone else noticed Affinity Photo taking up absurd amounts of storage??? Is it safe to delete some files from the library folder? I am assuming it's just accumulated temporary files. Thankful for any kind of help, my storage is almost full :(( Is there a way to safe the user settings/ ui presets etc in case I would have to reinstall Affinity Photo?

My Mac is on Sonoma 14.6.1

Affinity Photo is on 2.5.5

Welcome to the forums @mabisig

One way that this can happen is if you create a new document and place (embedded) lots of large images into that document.

Each image becomes ‘part of’ the document and the software maintains a ‘recovery version’ of the document within itself until the document is either saved or the application is opened and the recovery version is dismissed.

Therefore, after you have created (or edited) a document, before you save it, the application may contain a large recovery document inside itself just in case it’s needed. When the recovery document isn’t needed, the application will delete it and space will be recovered.
