Designer V1 / V2: Copy paste text into a text box, retaining properties of destination

Recommended Posts

Afternoon All,

My question is summed up by the title. I've created a set of template files in Designer V1 that have several text fields within them, pre-defined with the font, style, text size and colour all set up and with some text already in them. I then have several PDF files that I'm copying strings of text from, to paste into those fields.

The problem I have is that the pasted text retains it's properties from those of the PDF source, whereas I'd like it to inherit properties I'd pre-defined, in the same way that Excel "Paste values" does. Is there a way to force this when pasting, in either Designer V1 V2?

.....yes, that does it. The line spacing is a bit wayward but that's easy enough to sort out. Many thanks to @GarryP. The workflow feels odd going to the drop down menus in the middle of a copy/paste.

Comment to developers: It would be nice if this function were added to the right-click menu, in Windows at least. "Paste Special" would be handy, too.

You’re welcome.

In case you didn't know, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+”V” is the default keyboard shortcut for the “Edit → Paste Without Format” functionality.

There is a “Paste Special” function but it’s only available for Windows users as far as I know: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/98405-cant-copy-an-image-from-word/&do=findComment&comment=526991

I agree that “Paste Without Format” would be a good option to have in the context menu.

Note: The developers don’t generally look in the Questions sections of the forums to see what people would like to be implemented. If you would like them to consider making a change then you need to post a thread in the relevant Feedback section of the forums.
