How do I completely delete your programs?

Recommended Posts

Hello colleagues. I have such a problem. I used to have a package of your programs version 1.5, it was correctly installed and displayed on my computer on Windows in the programs file section after I bought the update, the second version and when downloading the installation file for Windows (and there were 3 options) I downloaded some version and the program was installed, but where its features lie is not clear at all, they do not lie in the classic section in the program file, like all programs that are installed on Windows. And recently an update for the second version arrived, I downloaded it but I don't understand how to delete the old version and install the updated one because the updated one is installed as a separate application next to the previous version)) please tell me how to delete everything completely in order to install one of the latest updates and exactly in the section where all programs are, that is, in the programs file section in Windows.

Hello and welcome to the forums @ruahpro

I assume that you have installed the MSIX versions. These are executed in a secure environment (sandbox). The update is carried out automatically after you have confirmed it. These programs can be uninstalled from the Start menu with a right-click.

If you need access to the Affinity programs from a third party program you should use the MSI/EXE installer. Please note that updates must be carried out manually. It is not necessary to uninstall the previous versions.

You can have version 1.x and 2.x installed side by side.

If you install from the Microsoft Store, yes.

In the Serif Store you have the choice, but yes, here the standard installer is MSIX too.

Please also make sure that you install all programs with either MSIX or MSI/EXE. Otherwise, errors may occur during activation if you mix the installation methods.

They are in the WindowsApps folder, which Microsoft hides from you.

It sounds like you've gotten a mixture of V2 applications installed, some via an MSIX installer and some via the MSI/EXE installer.

I would tell Windows to Uninstall all of your Affinity V2 applications. You can do that from Windows Settings, Apps (or Applications), or by right-clicking on each one in the standard Windows Start menu and choosing Uninstall. Do not use any other kind of Uninstaller program; just tell Windows to do it.

After that, redownload them from the Affinity Store at https://affinity.store/update/universal-licence where you can find the Windows installers for all three of the Affinity applications. Be sure to choose the same installer version for all three applications. If you want them where you can easily see them in the file system, choose the MSI/EXE installers, and the correct computer architecture (X64 unless you have one of the new ARM64 processors).

Note: If you install using the MSI/EXE, then when it's time to update you'll get a Download prompt. Be sure you choose the MSI/EXE installer to download the update. If you make a mistake and choose the MSIX installer you'll get yourself back into this same situation again.
