Document doesn't export last page with endnotes, which prevents reference links from being included

Recommended Posts

I'm using Affinity Publisher v. 2.5.5 on macOS 15.0. I've been working on a calendar of events. The day these events fall on is prescribed by statutory law, so I've been including footnotes so I have that information. I kept trying to export a PDF, but the document never included links to the references. I confirmed the "Generate hyperlinks" was toggled on in the Notes panel, and that the export settings would include hyperlinks. I tried exporting it as a PDF with no preset, and then with the "PDF - high quality" preset, but nothing.

After scrolling past the first page — I had just been opening the document and checking to see if those first endnote links would work — I scrolled all the way to the end. I realized that the "Notes" page was not included (I set it up to be its own page at the end). All five of the calendar pages were exporting, but the last one was not. So I went into the export window again, and instead of selecting "All Pages" as what I wanted to be exported — which is what I had been doing every time — I manually entered "1 - 6" in the pages field. This one change appears to have forced Publisher to include the "Notes" page at the end, which then made all of the endnote links operational (previously, my cursor never changed — indicating that there was no link present).

Tl;dr: I figured it out, but it seems like a bug that can be fixed.

You wrote that you used footnotes but then wrote that the notes page was at the end - were these endnotes?

If they were endnotes, was Positioning set to End of Story, Separate Frame, Shared Section Frame, Shared Document Frame, or End of Book?

If you open the Section Manager, is there a second section? If so, is the Include on Export checkbox selected?

Yes, sorry, I meant to say endnotes. They were set to be positioned at the End of Book. Ah, I found that option — it was not selected. Thank you!

Note that with the End of Book option, the endnotes for each Chapter will be at the end of the Chapter documents in a non-printing or exporting section - ignore those - and also consolidated at the end of the Book for actual printing and exporting.
