Images in TOC and Section name

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am working on a manual for my students. Most of the section names has an image in front of them.

I would like to see the image in the TOC and in the Section name.

Section name never worked for me, but in TOC it has worked, but some time ago it stopped working properly.

Sometimes I can see the images and sometimes cant.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Images that are pinned inline in a heading will appear in the TOC while images that are pinned as floating will not appear. I don't know why your images aren't showing up in the TOC sometimes, I've never seen that issue myself and I don't think anybody else has previously reported it. A test document might be helpful.

There's no way to add an image to a section name because it's a plain text field. However, if you're only inserting the section name on a master page you could easily insert an image next to it.

Another option would be to eliminate all of these images and instead use icons from a font. You'd lose the colour and would have a more limited selection, but there are many symbol fonts to choose from. Just don't use SF Pro, a font included with macOS that has tens of thousands of symbols - it's so big that it slows down exporting to PDF.

From what I've read the license for SF Pro also doesn't allow that usage :)

Agreed, it doesn't work consistently if the image is the first character in a heading that is a numbered list. You will need to do that for every heading until this bug is fixed. I tested your document and added spaces before the images in the other headings and then it all worked correctly.
