iBacio Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Hello, I copied some data from InDesign file to a Affinity Publisher project and I cannot save the file. I get the result as on the attached screenshot. I try to save to a local disk. I tried a few folders - everywhere the same. Is there any option to save the project except starting new one and copy/paste? Quote
Staff NathanC Posted September 27, 2024 Staff Posted September 27, 2024 Hi @iBacio, In this scenario the 'Saved Failed' error is more likely caused by one or more of the pasted objects/elements in the document causing the error when writing the file changes back rather than an issue with the file location. The development team are currently investigating instances of the ‘Failed to save’ errors occurring under certain scenarios, so if you could provide a copy of the InDesign file and advise what contents where copied into your .afpub before this error triggered we can get this instance logged. If you do this chances are you'll copy over the erroneous object(s) resulting in the same error in the new document. If you still have the file open it would be best to undo to prior to the paste or delete the objects that were pasted in and then attempt the save again. This might take a bit of trial and error. iBacio Posted September 27, 2024 Author Posted September 27, 2024 Unfortunately, I do not have a copy of the "bad" .afpub file as after some time the computer crashed after closing the screen of the Mac laptop. But, I do have the original .idml file, from which I was copying some of the data. But, this .idml does not generate such troubles - I can easily save it (full) as a .afpub file. I can say that I was copying one-by-one very similar pages (but I was not copying the full pages, but parts of it). After each copy I was saving the file. After one copy - it failed. I do not remember if that was a table of a set of curves, but surely very similar (but not identical) tables and curves were copied from previous pages without any problems. So, it looks for me as the problem is generated by some parts of the files being copied, but not the complete file. I am sorry I cannot be a bigger help with this issue. Quote
