MKe Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Hiya, I want to start to print out of Affinity Publisher a book and understand that this is done in signatures. Fine. Is Affinity publisher always printing eight (8) pages in to one (1) signature of two (2) papersheets or is this adjustable, e.g. 16 pages=4 papersheets=1 signature, somewhere? Whith the default this would give me an awful lot of signatures within my book... Thx, Martin Quote
MikeTO Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Publisher doesn't have a signature printing feature but you don't need one. Just export to PDF as pages (not as spreads) and your printing service will use their software to create signatures from the PDF. Old Bruce Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Unless you are printing the book yourself worry only about keeping the page number to a multiple of four. A signature can have more than one sheet of paper from the printer. You would print all the sheets then collate them then fold and cut. A signature is going to be a multiple of four pages. One sheet folded in half is four pages. On one sheet of paper going into the press you can have as many pages as you want/can fit. Talk to your printer, your book could be printed 2 up, 4 up, 6 up 8 up (pages per side of the paper sheet) for 4, 8, 12, or 16 pages per sheet. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Note that this is for printing on your desktop printer and not for exporting to PDF for printing through a printing service.
