Copy and Paste shortcut not working!! Help!

Recommended Posts

I upgraded to V2 Affinity Photo after using V1 for several years. So I know how the shortcuts for copy and paste are working.

I am on a new computer where I installed V2.

Workflow: I open a jpg image. I select the Marquee tool and select part of the image by clicking and dragging. With the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+C I try to make a copy of that selection. Then with Ctrl+V I try to paste it! nothing is happening! there is no new layer created!

If I'm using the Edit drop-down version, everything works fine! and surprisingly the shortcut Ctrl+V starts working after I use the "normal dropdown" version.

The Ctrl+Shift+C never works. (shortcut)

I tried 3 different keyboards! I reinstalled Affinity. I reset the program by opening it with Ctrl. and using the reset.

Specification.

Windows 11 Pro
Processor    AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core Processor             4.20 GHz
Installed RAM    64.0 GB (63.7 GB usable)
Device ID    BA378104-C88B-4A40-B66A-7415AD8D3479
Product ID    00330-50000-00000-AAOEM
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Thank you to anybody who can try to help!!!

Ctrl+Shift+C

As far as I know, the standard shortcut for copying to the Clipboard is and has always been the Ctrl+C combination.

In Windows, the Ctrl+Insert and Shift+Insert shortcuts are commonly used to control the Clipboard, but unfortunately Affinity does not use them.

Yes, it always was Ctrl+C in Windows. But when Affinity came first on the market that did not work!! and as you see in the picture if you want to use the "flattened copy" the keyboard shortcut does not work.... at least for me. So since I never tried the normal Ctrl+C in Affinity I feel like a dumbass here! Sorry to waste your time!

Thank you for your advice!

Cheers!

Both shortcuts (Ctrl+C and Ctrl+Shift+C) work for me.

the Shift one does not

Shift doesn't work only for this hotkey or in general? That is, in another keyboard shortcut, or as a modification key for other operations (see Status bar, with scroll wheel, etc.).
