You can change the background color of a Text Frame using the Text Frame panel. I'm not sure if that's what you want, though, and I'm confused why you've used Picture Frames in your document when you want a colored background, rather than using Rectangles.
walt.farrell
Thank you for the clarification. As far as I know, in the Affinity applications, a single object has only a single color for the stroke or fill (except if using the Appearance panel, which is not relevant for your question). It does not matter whether the object is a shape, a curve, or a string of text. If it is one object in the Layers panel then it is one object with one stroke/fill. You cannot have text that changes color with different backgrounds, except perhaps by using a Blend Mode that will cause the text to interact with its background. Or by using an Adjustment layer over part of the text, but that will Rasterize the text when exporting.
