johnleftwich
Hi, I have been using Serif software (obsolete, the 'Plus' range) for more years than I care to remember. I am about to replace my aged computer and begin anew with the Affinity range. Having looked at the computer tecnical specification required for the aforementioned (do we still use that word?) which is technical jargon beyond me; would anyone be so bold as to recommend a possible choice of computer to suit my purpose? Thank you
walt.farrell
Do you plan to stay with a Windows PC, @johnleftwich, or are you considering switching to a Mac? And do you have a price range in mind? How much of your old software will you continue to use? stuck
Just about any current PC will run the Affinity Suite but if you want it to run well then it's a safe bet that the more you spend the better will be the your user experience. So what is your budget?

I will on occasion go out of my way to use it. But that is only because I want to add Erudite to my self imposed title of "Bon Vivant Raconteur". I would say that one consideration is the size of the hard drive on the machine, larger is better because of the "swap files" being restricted to the computer's hard drive, we cannot use external hard drives. These swap files come into play when we have huge* files and limited RAM. * in the 100s of megabytes file size. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
