I'm trying to understand how does the "Unclip Canvas" menu item differ from the "Clip Canvas".

In Affinity's help materials, I found only this remark:

Quote

* To remove unwanted canvas areas:
From the Document menu, select Clip Canvas.

*To expand the canvas to fit layer content:
From the Document menu, select Unclip Canvas.

On practice they works the same when expanding the canvas. I assume the "Unclip Canvas" option is redundant and duplicates the "Clip Canvas" menu option.

Unclip Canvas:

Clip Canvas:

I would appreciate any comment.

Perhaps this will help clear it up. As you would expect, Clip Canvas removes unneeded canvas area. Unclip Canvas won't do anything unless there are objects extending outside of the canvas area, and then will expand the canvas so they're no longer outside.
