Iztok
Proposal to Simplify the System in Affinity Publisher, Designer, and Photo The color system seems unnecessarily complex to me. After working with InDesign for 15 years, I switched to Affinity this year. While most things function smoothly and comparably, the way colors are stored and edited is overly complicated. When I create a new document, I expect the default color palette to be set to document colors by default, rather than needing to manually select it. This should be the basic setup. If I want to keep a specific color, I should be able to add it to a “Favorites” option. The App Palette contains colors that can be set globally for the app, but there’s no way to select multiple shades (e.g., using Shift) to delete them. The distinction between global and regular colors seems unnecessary. It would be more efficient to have all colors function as global colors, with a separate palette for “Favorites.” The reason is that with global colors, I can easily check and change the color in real-time while selecting an object, and the change reflects immediately. This functionality is missing with regular colors, making the workflow more cumbersome, especially with small color samples. I also miss having a trash bin icon under the palette for quickly deleting or adding colors, similar to how it's done with layers. This function is hidden in menus for colors, which slows down the workflow. Additionally, there's an issue when switching between color modes (RGB to CMYK and vice versa). Duplicating an RGB color in CMYK can result in a vastly different shade. Adding a small label or colored outline to indicate the color system (RGB, CMYK, or Solid Color) for each swatch would be helpful. These are my suggestions as a designer with over 34 years of experience in the field. Also gradients - when I create gradient colour and has 2 click on it on palette, it change to ordinary colour - not gradient anymore. And gradient colour is not in my document palett, which is not good Westerwälder
