Running benchmark causes crash [SPLIT]

Recommended Posts

Current benchmark causes a total shutdown.... Odd as this machine is better than my older Ryzen 5 windows 11 . same RAM @ 32m, both running off a 1T ssd

I am running an ancient 580 GPU, but its flawless for a few games and Affinity Photo 2 and Designer 2 never crashes.

Total shutdown of:

  • the application? or
  • the PC?

Both. I thought it unusual, as I've just benchmarked a few games. This is a new build for me, but similar to my other PC. Chip, Ram, SSD, Win 11 latest. All drivers fresh and rechecked. I had it plugged into my UPS , battery side, switched it over to surge side. When it crashes, everything is off, needs a reboot.  I  will say it loads all Vectors and when it starts raster it shuts off. Did not trip backup battery or surge.

That's not something the Affinity apps (or any other user-level app) can cause directly. It will be a driver problem, a Windows problem, or a hardware problem. The Windows Event Log Viewer may have something useful for you at the time of the failure, or I'd suggest running some system diagnostics.

What model of CPU does your new PC have? Memories and fequencies? Do you use XMP? Overclocking?

Did you tried any other stress test or benchmarks if it will cause freeze too?

I did solve the benchmark issue, I apparently had my CPU running overvolted. Once it was set back to thee normal setting it benchmarked fine, and everything dropped temperature wise. It did not allow the update to install, not sure why that freezes during loading.

This is a Ryzen 5600GT RAM is set at 32mb 3200 XMP is where the voltage got bumped up. Once reset its great, and finishes all benchmarks faster. What was odd is the games didn't have any issue overvolting, just Affinity.
