bici Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Well, while I feel for all of you that updated to Sequoia, I am glad that I am still on Sonoma. But this is awful for those who bought new machines and it came with Sequoia. Affinity Serif needs to act... Trustedsource 1 Quote iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020/ Sonoma OS 14.7/ Affinity newbie /
jaabdad Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 The only issue I was having with 2.5.5 was thumbnails, so I'm all set but I hope Serif takes care of all you folks with other issues. Quote
srg Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 and now with Sequia v15.1 the problem of the thumbnails not showing is back again!!! incredible!! Quote
jaabdad Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I'm running 15.1 and have no issues after installing the latest betas. You might need to do this then restart finder -- NOT restart your Mac, just finder. bici 1 Quote

Staff Patrick Connor Posted November 15, 2024 Staff Posted November 15, 2024 I'm sorry that the Sequoia thumbnail issue is still outstanding in 2.5.5. We needed to have it tested as part of the current 2.6.0 beta to check it works (in the first beta 2.6.0.2805 it was found to be incomplete, but in the latest beta released this week it has tested ok) This fix along with a handful of other issues are slated for a 2.5.6 to be released soon (2.6.0 will take longer due to the large numbers of changes and new features). For a few technical reasons it is not possible to run a customer facing 2.5.6 beta and a 2.6.0 beta simultaneously, so that's why the fixes that will be included are being checked in 2.6.0 and cherry picked into 2.5.6 which will address the Sequoia and iPadOS 18 problems along with a few other carefully selected high impact issues, which will be released (without a beta phase) after internal testing. I would expect that to take a week or two more. Sorry that this has taken so long. Staff Patrick Connor Posted November 15, 2024 Staff Posted November 15, 2024 I appreciate why the frustration in this thread has started turning into insults and disrespect, but with a lack of clear communication on the matter before now I understand why tempers are fraying. The language in a small few posts above is not acceptable according to posting guidelines but won't be removed. Sorry this frustrating problem wasn't resolved sooner. norbinw Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Never a simple task, but it's about the only app on the planet that still hasn't resolved the issue. It's been months now, almost half a year since the "you can't expect serif apps to work on beta OS" reply. whatimissthemost and bici 2 Quote
Trustedsource Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Here is a *huge* "Thank You" To Patrick Connor, For taking the time to communicate here when I'm certain that there are much bigger fish to fry in the world of practical reality (read that - actually working on problems and code glitches). I for one, appreciate everything that comes from internal work being done - It's helpful if only to let folks know the wheels are turning. I have little doubt that there are unseen frustrations and more to the problem than meets the average users expectations. But once again a few words can be a mighty powerful balm when it comes to communication. I'm grateful for everyone's efforts. bici and toddlauzon 1 1 Quote

Nuclear Ember Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 I'm still on Sonoma. Let's say I update to Sequoia 15.1.1, since it's what I'm being offered in Mac's Software Update. Then do I update Affinity to all the latest Beta releases for each product? Or are there specific ones I should choose? I'm completely confused by @Patrick Connor's mention above, "2.5.6 beta and a 2.6.0 beta." Update: Oh, I see, one can only download the latest beta. Hoping this fixes my initial problem, which wasn't about thumbnails (though that existed too). Quote

Staff Affinity Info Bot Posted November 27, 2024 Staff Posted November 27, 2024 The issue "Import content error when importing .affont files in Sequoia beta " (REF: AF-3814) has been fixed by the developers in the latest release build (2.5.6.2887). The fix is available from today in the 2.5.6 customer release . If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us. Quote
Trustedsource Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 While I used the quick view module from the beta release to solve the most pressing problem of the Sequoia OS upgrade some time ago... Here's a huge "Thank You!" to all of the coding / tech / upgrade efforts that quietly went on behind the scenes, which no doubt go largely unrecognized. It's easy to focus on the glitches. Human nature and our reptilian brains are wired for "recognition of the negative." And I too am guilty of this. But the functionality of these software packages day to day is fantastic. The fact that Affinity products gave us a pathway out from under the Adobe yoke is outstanding. I propose a toast! Here's to a long road of affordable electronic prepress in all of it's Affinity products - may the "purchase outright" options never die! Again, many thanks to the staff who interacted with the folks here in this forum and took the time to communicate. It means a lot. Ts bici and oBy 1 1 Quote
