AdriZ
Hi, I am a beginner in vector drawing. I drew this logo for my rock band. I like these textured fonts but I would like the whole logo to be textured like one or the other (preferably like the one called Freedom). I've tried using brush or texture but took a long time with no result. Could you please advise me how to achieve it? thks!
GarryP
Welcome to the forums @AdriZ Do you require the result to remain as vectors or would a bitmap/raster result be acceptable? Also, is the design constructed from simple curves or have things like the Warp Group functionality been applied to any of it?

I still want to be able to modify the drawing, font and this texture. There is a warp group for the font.

AdriZ
Thanks a lot @jaedee. I will try that. I there also a method for obtaining the edge effect like in the first font?

I don’t think there’s an easy way to make the edges of the text ‘uneven’ if you want to keep the result as a vector, but if you don’t mind it being rasterised then you could convert the text to curves and apply an appropriate Brush Stroke to the curves. Note: You can add a Brush Stroke directly to text but, in my experience, it gives a different result. See attached image where the top text is the original and the bottom text is a copy of the original but has had the “Ink on Cotton Paper 02” Brush applied to it. Experimentation with different brushes will give you lots of options to choose from depending on what you want, and there are lots of Brush Packs you can download from various places. AdriZ
Thanks a lot Garry. I tried a lot of different brushes. I didn't succeed in having the same effect on the font and the curves because I have to select a thinner brush for the text. I ended trying to mimic the font texture on the drawing. This is not too bad but not really nice I also didn't manage to get the same effet on the teeth and the reflect. Anyway. I realized I prefer the version with the other font (my 2nd image on my 1st post). But when I tried to add texture to everything, I didn't like the effect on the curves because it breaks the lines. I'm thinking in trying to duplicate my drawing, one will have a thinner line, the other a little wider line with texture applied. I don't know if it is a good idea... StuartRc
Hi AD does not have a tool to roughen up the edges of vectors but: a. You can use the Pencil Tool with sculpt mode switched on in the context toolbar to roughen up the edge of the shape. It is a quick methd as long as yuo don not have too many vectors to apply the effect to b. You could arrange irregular shaped vector elements around the edge of the shape and weld them to the master shape using Boolean ADD With regards to texture any vector grunge pattern be used as a cutter to knock out your texture AdriZ 1 Quote Affinity Version 1 (10.6) Affinity Version 2.5.6.2887 All (Designer | Photo | Publisher) Beta; 2.6.0.2900 OS:Windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.4412+ Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19056.1000.0 Rig:AMD FX 8350 and AMD Radeon (R9 380 Series) Settings Version 21.04.01 Radeon Settings Version 2020 20.1.03) + Wacom Intuous 4M with driver 6.3.41-
Ldina
@AdriZ You can create the following effects in Affinity Photo (if you own it) with a Live Procedural Texture Filter. Below are two possibilities, among many, but you can adjust the settings to vary the effect or try other Affinity supplied Procedural Texture Filters. If you have Affinity Photo, then from Designer, go to Fille > Edit in Photo. In the Layers Panel, click the icon for the Live Procedural Textures as shown by the arrow in the screenshots. In the Dropdown box, try Perlin Noise or Lava (as shown below), set the Blend Mode to "Linear Light", then adjust the sliders to suit. You can use your cursor and left mouse button to drag the canvas and move the effect so it covers your white text better. When satisfied with the result, click the red circle in the upper left corner of the Procedural Texture window to close the dialog window. Since your text already had the effect you were looking to achieve, I added a Layer Mask to the Procedural Filter Layer and used a black, hard edged brush to paint out the effect on your original Grunge Text. When done, go to File > Edit in Designer and Save the file. Export to desired format. If you don't have APhoto, you'll need to use a different method as suggested by others. AdriZ
Hi Guys, I've managed to achieve something I like! I found a texture and I've drown on the mask to tune the result. I still have a last little problem, but as it is different, I've created a new topic: Thank you so much for your help. It helped me a lot!
