Affinity 2.5.3 --> 2.5.5 update - now I have 2 installations?

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I´m confused.
On August 28th I installed Affinity 2 on Windows 11. That was version 2.5.3.2516 .
I can´t remember what kind of installation or download link I used, I guess it was just "download for Windows" or something like that.

Today I got a notice that a newer version is available (2.5.5.2636).
I downloaded them as recommended as ".msix" and installed all 3.

Now the links are not updated and if I open any Affinity file, it is still opened with Affinity 2.5.3 and I again get a notice to update.

What´s wrong here? Did I choose the wrong installation file?
I have WIN 11 version 23H2 with an AMD Ryzen 9 processor, 64-Bit.

Any ideas?

If the notification included a Download button then you were running the EXE/MSI version, not the MSIX version. So you downloaded the wrong one, basically.

If you had been running the MSIX version, the notification would have had an Install button, and the app would have downloaded the MSIX version and installed it and restarted automatically with no further actions on your part.

You should decide which you want to have, and uninstall the other one. As you had previously installed the EXE/MSI, I would assume that's the one you want (for some reason) and uninstall the 2.5.5 copy you just installed. Then download the correct installer, and rerun it.

I have a slightly different problem.

I currently have beta version 2.5.5.2613. I get the "Install" message, click on it, a message say's checking download size and nothing else happens.

I think I might have missed a couple of updates.

I am running windows 10 22H2 fully up to date.

There's only one beta release beyond 2.5.5.2613: 2.5.5.2636, to match the retail version.

I'm not sure why the update isn't working for you, but you could always just download/install the proper MSIX version (X64 or ARM64) from your account at https://affinity.store/account/downloads to get it, if you want to. Make sure to choose an MSIX.
