babray
Hi folks, Instead of getting the choice to upgrade to the latest version I am getting a download dialog box as per screenshot. This installas a new version an looses customization. It is doing this on 2 of my machines but on the third I get the choice to upgrade. Howe can I solve this dilemma? Thanks! walt.farrell
First, that kind of install should not lose any settings or other customization. They are maintained for both install methods. So if it seems they're being lost I think something unexpected is happening. Second, you're getting that prompt because you've installed the application on that system using the EXE/MSI version of the installer. The MSIX version can automatically download and install, and so offers the Install option. The EXE/MSI version requires a manual download and manual install and so only offers Download. babray
Actually it is an MSIX install, but I'll go back and check. With a couple of drive failures now is the time to correct it. Thanks for the quick reply and I'll do some double checking.

You may have been confused about which version you downloaded, or you may have both versions installed (generally a bad idea) and started the wrong one. You can confirm (for 2.5.3 or earlier) by running the program, and once it's running, run Task Manager. Expand the program's entry there, and right-click on it and choose Open File Location. File Explorer will then show you where the program is located. You have the MSIX if WindowsApps is in the directory path for the program. But if Program Files is there it's EXE/MSI (assuming you didn't change the default install directory). In 2.5.5 (currently in Beta test) and later, you'll be able to tell from the Account dialog in the program.
