Problem opening .svg files

Recommended Posts

That SVG contains some SVG elements which the Affinity applications cannot yet handle, such as patterns.

If the software cannot handle a type of element it often ignores the element completely, or maybe partially, I don’t know the exact rules.

Unless you can somehow alter the SVG before it comes into the Affinity applications, to use other elements instead (or use a rasterised version instead), there’s not much you can do about it.

I don’t think this can be considered as bug as such, more like simply a sub-optimal handling of the SVG standards.

For some history on this you can read this: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/81775-vectorpattern-fill/

Hi @pburki,

In addition to @GarryP's feedback, the laptop and cloud can be easily corrected, they have additional layers which may have just been open curves in the original file, you can just hide these layers as appropriate and add strokes as per the original...

The grey dot patterns appear as curve layers minus their fill but could be simply recreated as well if they are an important part of the graphic and nested in the existing curves...
