Failing to run past the startup screen!

Okay, I think we may have something - we've identified a possible problem and have fixed it, so we'll build and test it then deploy a new beta version later today (all being well, it will be mid-afternoon). Thanks again, everyone - your support and patience is very much appreciated :)

Hi awl,

Mine loads fine, and it's such a slick design nice job folks!

However when I open one of my old AI or PDF files (only some of a particular style, others are fine) it hangs and then crashes.

I don't have many fonts installed, I don't have AI or PS installed (but I do have PSe installed).

The files that won't open have transparent strokes in them, but apart from that and format are no different to other files that I've opened up in Affinity no problem at all.

I can't wait till this program works properly, it really is so nice to use (on files that it opens without problems).

I am able to get over the splash screen into application but then it's crashing down in a few seconds anyway.

Yes I do have about 1700 fonts installed.

I also checked the Event Viewer and the Application Designer.exe threw an error, with the source as .NET Runtime

Whilst testing a web application I'm working on using Fiddler2 I noticed that Affinity Designer makes a request to:

http://crashes.seriflabs.com/appversion.php?product=designer&os=windows&apptype=beta

If for some reason if this request takes a while the application hangs until it completes. You can test it using the following Fiddler 2 filter:

EXACT:http://crashes.seriflabs.com/appversion.php?product=designer&os=windows&apptype=beta

*delay:60000

If you use this rule you'll find the application hangs for a minute, change the delay to *delay:10000 and it hangs for 10 seconds.

OK This feels like an AA meeting - I have 10670 fonts on my computer but I have not installed any new ones for 60 days.

Originally Adobe cc 2015 programs had issues with some of the True Type fonts and they were deleted from the system.
