Hangman
Hi @Megnusin, What is the logic of having the file minus its SVG Tags? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd"> <svg> <g id="test" viewBox="0 0 35 35" ><path d="M10.442,24.558l-9.442,9.442" style="fill: none; stroke: var(--stroke_color, #333); stroke-width: 1.28px"></path ></g> </svg> new_test.svg Quote Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 Affinity Designer Beta 2.6.0.2861 | Affinity Photo Beta 2.6.0.2861 | Affinity Publisher Beta 2.6.0.2861 MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse

I didn't say there is any logic to opening an invalid SVG file. Designer should handle an invalid file gracefully rather than crashing, bringing down other open files with it. stokerg and walt.farrell
Staff stokerg Posted August 22 Staff Share Posted August 22 Hi @Megnusin, Thanks for reporting this. I've logged it with the Developers, as a crash is always unwanted behaviour Megnusin

Staff Affinity Info Bot Posted October 22 Staff Share Posted October 22 The issue "Crash when opening SVG file without enclosing <SVG> tags" (REF: AF-4146) has been fixed by the developers in the latest beta build (2.6.0.2805). The fix is planned for inclusion in the next customer release. Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions. If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us.
