Exporting to PDF for Amazon KDP

Recommended Posts

The latest thread I could find on this is from 2021...so I'm hoping there's a simple solution now in 2024...

I can't get Amazon to accept my interior book PDF on KDP. I've tried PDFX-1a, which they suggest...it says to flatten images, but I can't find anywhere to do that. They want me to disable "downsample images" but when I check that, the Preset goes blank (does that matter?). They want me to optimize the PDF, but I don't see an option for that either.

Is there a simple solution for this? (I'm using Mac and Affinity 2)

UPDATE: It appears to have worked to choose PDFX-1a, then disable "downsample" images. Maybe this will help someone else! No further action required!

I'm glad it worked for you. I spent a month going around in circles with the same issue. I tried all the settings none of which worked. Finally, they said it was an issue on their side, then they changed their mind and said it was my fault. I ended up closing my account which is a for life decision.
