jonnsin
I have burned 3 files to a CD. Two are PDFs and one is the full Publisher file with graphics and fonts embedded. When I check, the two PDFs open but the Publisher file will not open and message reads Volumn Read Only. On the info panel the three items regarding permission are set to Read and Write. If I drag the Publisher file from the CD to the desktop it opens normally. I have been using Publisher since it was launched. I still have 1.10.5 in my Applications file and wondered if my future work should be done on this version. I use an iMac circa 2022 OS Sonoma 14.6.1 and Publisher 2.5.
MikeTO
This is probably because Affinity 2 creates a temporary and hidden file in the same directory as the file you're opening and it's unable to do that with a CD. CD's are okay for backups but you'll likely need to move afpub, afdesign, and afphoto files from them before opening them. jonnsin 1 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.5 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.5 for macOS Sequoia 15.1, MacBook Pro 14" (M4 Pro)
walt.farrell
This was discussed earlier: Unfortunately, it seems to have been tagged with two bug tags (AF-808, AF-810) that are for slightly different problems that were fixed in 2.3. I suspect that the Moderators missed that the problem was not quite the same, and the issue with lock files not being created in write-protected folders was never addressed. Perhaps when the Moderators get to this new topic they will be able to confirm that, and get this variation of the problem logged to be fixed. Or perhaps there has been some kind of regression between 2.3 and 2.5.3. Staff stokerg Posted August 22 Staff Share Posted August 22 Hi @jonnsin, Thanks for reporting this. From reading the bug reports for AF-808 and AF-810 it doesn't appear they mention CDR/DVDs so looks like this was missed from the original reports. I agree with @MikeTOthat this is most likely due to the lock file failing to be written. I've logged this with the Developers, so hopefully they can address this in an update jonnsin and walt.farrell
walt.farrell
Thanks, @stokerg. Note that this would apply, too, to opening files from a folder marked Read-Only, even on disk rather than on CD. stokerg 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.
