BreathEasy
I created my content in MS Word. The content will be making an exercise and quiz book for a course. The original formatting in Word was number, letter (as in Question 1, multiple choice A, B, C, D). To avoid any complications, I opted to REMOVE that formatting in word and 'place' the content in Affinity Publisher without any formatting. My plan was to use Affinity's native numbering/bulleting tools to organize the questions and answers. Just seemed simpler. After I placed the content in Publisher, I created the text box and Sections as you see. Every New Quiz has a page break so that it begins at the top of the next page. Problem: As you can see, when I apply the page break, an unexplained 'space' appears both BEFORE AND AFTER the last bit of text on the preceding page. These are not carriage returns. This occurs elsewhere throughout the document. (also please ignore the ending empty space, that's coming from the page break) What is causing this unexplained space? How do I fix it? GarryP
Your question would have been better asked in the appropriate “Questions” section of the forums rather than the “Share your work” section as the “Share your work” section is for people to show the things they have created with the software, a bit like a gallery, rather than ask questions. Posting questions in the “Questions” section is likely to get you an answer more quickly. A moderator will probably move this thread for you so there’s no need to duplicate this elsewhere. walt.farrell
It would also help us (and you, I think) to enable the option Text > Show Special Characters from the menu. But we'll also probably need your screenshots to show us the complete application window, not a cropped version as you have provided. There is a lot of useful information in the rest of the interface that helps answer questions like this. BreathEasy
Thanks. Here you go Also, as you can see, "Exercise 2" text is unexplicably NOT up against the top of the text box.
walt.farrell
Thanks. And apologies for lack of clarity on my part, but that screenshot doesn't seem to be of the same page where you were asking "why is this space here". Does your question also apply to the Exercise 1 page? Also, please make sure the text cursor is within the text block that you have the question about. Otherwise the rest of the user interface information may not be relevant. (I should have mentioned that before.) BreathEasy
Yes. It appears all throughout the document. Same problem on multiple pages. My cursor is on the topmost line that I can select on the problem text box.
BreathEasy
and here is an example of unexplained space above the text that is now SMALLER than previsouly. This occurred immediately after I inserted a page break after the end of this text.

You have the text set to Center Vertically. (Edit: in both of those last two screenshots.)
