Publisher's Settings is missing the Develop Assistant found in Photo which means it's not possible to set default values when processing RAW files in Publisher, i.e.,

  • Default Lens Profile
  • Noise Reduction
  • Tone Curve
  • Exposure Bias
  • RAW Output Format

Hi @Hangman,
It's still possible to access the Assistant settings through the Develop Persona, which is part of the Photo Persona in Publisher, but it's a convoluted way to do it. Unlike in Affinity Photo, there is no direct button to access these settings. I'm not sure whether this is intentional, as Publisher is not primarily meant for developing RAW files. I'm logging this/submitting a report to ask for clarification on whether this feature/button is supposed to be included in Publisher. Thanks.

Hi @MEB,

I think the issue, if it can even be called that, is that while 'yes' you can access the Develop Assistant options in a convoluted way (my mistake), you can't adjust any settings before Developing a new RAW file, i.e., there is no way to say change the Default Lens profile for a specific image before clicking Develop apart from processing the file, changing the settings, closing the file, deleting the file, re-adding the file to the page then clicking Develop a second time...

Admittedly the question becomes why would you Develop RAW files in Publisher in the first place but since the option is available it was more to highlight the potential issue...

In the meantime thanks for raising the issue for clarification...

Why would you need to change the Default one for a specific image? Can't you just select the one you want while you're in the Develop Persona?

(Perhaps just a bad specific example, as there are other non-dynamic options that you can't select except in the Develop Assistant options. For those, your convoluted workflow would be needed.)

This doesn't update the image in real time...

Example

  • I have a RAW file and I don't want automatic lens correction when opening it. The 'Default Lens Profile' for the Develop Assistant is currently set to Auto-select...

  • In Publisher, I select my RAW file, click the Develop button and select None from the Auto-select dropdown and nothing changes...

  • If I want this to be the default setting I have to click the Develop Assistant, choose None from the Auto-select dropdown, Cancel the Develop process, delete the RAW file from my page and then re-add the image for None to be honoured and click Develop a second time to process my RAW file...

  • The next RAW file I open I would like the ''Default Lens Profile' to be set to 'Auto-select', so I have to repeat the steps above...

In Photo, I make my Develop Assistant selections before opening my RAW file and those settings are honoured when opening the RAW file...

As the Lens Profile and auto-correction are supposed to be selectable while developing (or they wouldn't be in the studio panels), that sounds like a separate issue/bug.

It's a moot point perhaps since I don't think I would ever Develop RAW files using this process but owing to the convoluted behaviour which differs from processing a RAW file in Photo it was more to highlight the difference, the same logic applies to the Tone Curve and Exposure Bias...
