I'd like to suggest an enhancement for users working with complex objects and multiple layers in Designer.

Would it be possible to add a dialogue option to move a selected object to a chosen layer ? A mouse click on a object brings up a pop up dialogue - it would be great if you could include 'move to layer' and then from that a list of the layers available in the document

Which layers should the “list of the layers” contain, and which layer should be first selected in the pop-up?

Should it always contain the whole layer stack, or just the layers inside the selected layer, or something else?

And should it show only visible layers (the ones the user is 'working with') or all layers?

And should it only show layers that have been named by the user (e.g. the most ‘important’ ones) or all layers?

And, in each case, what if someone wants it to work differently?

I’m not asking these questions to be awkward.

I like the idea, in general, but I think it needs some more ‘meat on the bones’ before I would really like it.

Garry - I agree there needs to be more thought into which layers & how they are listed etc.

The purpose of my post was to see if this could be a potential new feature for Designer that others would also find useful

Maybe you could outline how it might be useful to you / how you think it should work and then others may also contribute

Thanks for your input
