docnx Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Hi! I am editing a book with affinity publisher (last version) on a Macbook Air. Everything is ok, but when I email the afpub file to a colleague to correct it, when he opens the design of the book is not the correct one! The first 50 pages are ok, but then in 51 it adds a line after a figure title... and I think than goes on because in the final pages all is broken (title pages moved, figures out of range...). I tried saving the file again and resending but nothing works. We both have the last version of Af Publisher for Mac OSx (me Sonoma, my colleage Ventura). Any ideas why and how to solve it? Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 As you're both on macOS that removes some error possibilities, but it adds some others given that you're on different major releases of macOS. One common error source is having different fonts, or different versions of fonts, installed. The way to combat that is to use Save as Package to save your .afpub file. This will ask for a directory which you would create. Then it will save a copy of any Linked images into an Images directory there, and a copy of any fonts you use into a Fonts directory, and a .afpackage file. You would then Zip the directory (which contains the Fonts folder, the Images folder, and the .afpackage file) and send the .zip file to your colleague. He can Unzip the .zip file, Open the .afpackage file, and work on the project. Then at the end Save as Package again, Zip the directory, and send it back to you. However, while this handles differences in Fonts and Images, it wouldn't usually explain you might be seeing pages broken or moved around. I have no idea what might explain that or what you might do about it. docnx Posted August 18, 2024 Author Posted August 18, 2024 I tried that and didn't work... it's a mistery! In the middle of the document the colleage Mac adds 2 blank pages... and when deleted, they reappear at the moment! I think I will lend him my macbook to solve the problem... Quote
