I've turned my right menu into shit how can I bring it back to default

Recommended Posts

Like what the hell is text styles? Why would anyone want to waste their life on that! I just want to change distance between lines!

Intuitively I want to right click on the tab and delete it into non-existence but I can't. I can't... it was never meant to be...

Why. Not. Make the right click do something?Screenshot2024-08-17at00_02_59.png.425c3e9e74cadc543b32532666dbda7e.png

You didn't say which Affinity app you are using but the help topic for that panel in Affinity Publisher explains what it is & what it is used for.

With that pane selected, click on the 'burger' menu to the right of the panel name (looks like 4 lines) & choose "Close" from the menu that pops up. (This is how it works for all the panels.)

You may already know this but below it to the left of the History panel the long line of single character panel names are the truncated names of all the panels you have put in that panel group.

You have the styles panel overlaid with a group of many other panels. Move this group aside (panel group header/panel tabs drag and drop) to see what you have below it.

I get it now. The panel on the left is called studio. I would never guessed. All I had to do was go to view and then studio and add tool into it. Would be nice if the 'studio' had a label on top of it that would say 'studio'.

And let's be honest only 1% reads help topics, nobody has time for that, especially creative types. Which is why the UI should be as intuitive as possible.

It was a bug, when I restarted the app there was just one tab left.

I think when one is not familiar with an app, referring to its help topics or other documentation saves a lot of time in the long run.

You can have a Studio panel group on the right and on the left. You can drag out studio panels and/or studio panel groups so some float over the workspace. You can collapse them to just their titles to save space, hide or show all or some of them, etc. You can even create studio presets & switch between them. In this respect the UI is very flexible & customizable to however you want.

Please consider reading the Customizing the workspace help topic for a lot more about this. The US  online Mac version for Affinity Publisher is here but if you are on Windows the buit-in version may be a bit different.

@ennuied You can use Window > Studio > Reset Studio to return these panels to their default location in Affinity V2 apps.

It appears as though you have a floating Studio window with multiple Studios 'docked' into this - this is not a bug with the Affinity apps and is part of the user customisation available in the apps.

I hope this helps!

Just restarting the app will not change the studio layout. You must have done something else you have not mentioned, perhaps by accident so you are not aware of what that was.
