afmonroyf Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Hi! I hope that you are doing well. Me again with another issue with affinity 😅. I'm trying to open or place a PDF file with either software of the suite. But notice that the preview when trying to open the file doesn't appear. And when I click on open. It closes automatically. I've tried placing the file as well and it has the same effect. Any chance it's either the software unable to read the file ot the PDF file itself that its damaged or just too heavy? I've opened other similar files and they dont have any issue. Maybe there is another file from all that I've got that closes the software as well but haven't encountered it yet. Attached is the file so you can review. Thanks!map8d.pdf Quote

afmonroyf Posted August 16, 2024 Author Posted August 16, 2024 Hi @walt.farrell, Thank you for your response. As for my drivers are all up to date. And I checked the reports and these two where generated while trying both opening methods mentioned initially. eb686ca1-7991-47b7-8912-4f4641dd1803.dmp 037b72d1-6500-42f2-a10a-75b01cc8f6db.dmp Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Thanks. Both of those seem to be an error of some kind in a library module for importing PDF files, so perhaps it is something specific to that particular PDF file. Interestingly, it crashes Publisher 2.5.5.2613 Beta on Windows for me, but Publisher 2.5.5.2613 on macOS is happy Opening or Placing the file. David in Яuislip Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 map8d.pdf fails using Publisher V1. Running it through Ghostscript with gswin64 -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -o map8dGS.pdf map8d.pdf generates a file that Publisher can handle although much of it is actually a bitmap image. Inkscape can open it but generates a two page pdf, all a bit weird map8dGS.pdf afmonroyf 1 Quote Microsoft Windows 11 Home, Intel i7-1360P 2.20 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Intel Iris Xe Affinity Photo - 24/05/20, Affinity Publisher - 06/12/20, KTM Superduke - 27/09/10
afmonroyf Posted August 16, 2024 Author Posted August 16, 2024 Hi @walt.farrell and @David in Яuislip, thanks for the files! they do work. Also, @walt.farrell. If you notice on your files, the opened file is missing some information. This has to do with another post I did on it. It was submited as a bug in windows but I guess that it also is happening in mac. Also if you tell me that in your windows version being beta it doesn't open, maybe it does have to do with something within the file that the software cannot read or check. Also reviewing your answer @David in Яuislip, If you could couldn't open it within your v1 version, but managed to open after applying your command, there is something within the file that the software cannot manage. Also keeping in mind that Inkscape was able to open it. Thank you both! walt.farrell 1 Quote
