Staff Jon P Posted June 30, 2016 Staff Share Posted June 30, 2016 Hi Pixelplucker, I've exported a few files fine over here. What folder are you attempting to export to? There could be an issue exporting to a folder with non ascii characters in. Are you able to export just a simple document with a shape on? epenrice
I have had problems exporting pdf's too. I get it to work sometimes, sometimes it exports to a pdf and dissapears, once I was able to open the pdf while it was still processing and I managed to keep it. On another mac coputer that file doesn't open though. Just a bit of a picture like an incomplete file.
Ken Cope
PDF export has been a little 'problematic' here. I've twice had different files export from AD only to discover Adobe Reader could not find them when I tried to open them by clicking on them in the Recent Files list. It wasn't a problem, I just re-exported the file and all was okay. It would be better if, once a PDF has been exported, the user's default PDF viewer opens with the file there on the page, that way we would ensure the file was there and openable. Ken Cope
Do you have an example file that we can reproduce this with? I tried it again with the two problematic files, but they produced the pdf's fine for me. OneByOne
Ok, I have a question. When exporting via export persona, is the pop up with slices and png etc. supposed to always pop up so you can tick off / on which elements you want to export? I am having occasions when this does not happen, often when re -exporting the same file with small export setting changes. Just wondering if that is normal or perhaps there is a problem. The files do export though, so not sure. Edit: Also, if you do make some export setting adjustments, do you have to re - do all the slices for the change to take effect? If so this is not ideal. resocut
For me the PDF export does not work neither. AD does not export anything. There is just no file. GIF, JPG, .. and other formats are working. Beta 1.5.05, Windows 10 Pro (1511)

Staff Jon P Posted July 13, 2016 Staff Share Posted July 13, 2016 Hi Obi, I've just exported a few artboards to PDF, can you let me know what PDF settings you are exporting to, and maybe attach the file you are having issues with so I can look into it further? Hi, Jon P. When i try to export this file i have to wait a while. Then the export window opens processing and... nothing. There is no pdf file. Export options: PDF (for print) 300 DPI And one more thing. PDFs exported in AD are not compatibile with other graphic programs like Corel Draw. Could it be? untitled.afdesign
Staff Jon P Posted July 14, 2016 Staff Share Posted July 14, 2016 Thanks for attaching the file, The PDF export is silently failing (on the mac it will error saying it failed to export), this is already logged with us. The reason it fails is due to not rasterizing the embedded documents (which it can't export without doing so), this is also a bug and is currently logged with us. Our PDFs should be compatible with Corel Draw as far as I am aware, let us know if one isn't importing and we can look into why that might be. Obi
I'm asking because I have that kind of problem. In Photoshop it works but Corel Draw X7 tells me "file reading error C:\...". It happens with every imported PDF file. Maybe it's problem with my version of CDX7 but. You should check it, I think.
Staff Jon P Posted July 15, 2016 Staff Share Posted July 15, 2016 I've given it a look into and CorelDraw X8 seems to think any pdf we output is corrupt, this isn't unique to our Windows version. A quick google on the matter doesn't really provide much light on why it might be, just that it can be fairly common and what workarounds can be used. I'll get it logged, but considering all other apps seem to open our PDFs it might be hard to figure out why they are refusing to open them. Dave Harris
Do you have File > Export > PDF > More > Allow advanced features checked? Unchecking it produces simpler PDFs which may help Corel to load them.
Obi
Jon P. Like I said it might be problem with my corel version. I understand that you can't check all the programs :) Dave Harris Unchecking doesn't make any difference. I'm waiting for next relese. Cheers. KoBu
I have the same problem when I try to open "normal" AD-pdfs with CorelDraw X7 (=error). I found that the only way is to export pdfs in AD as PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-3. Then I can import these pdfs im CorelDraw. adi
CorelDraw X5, X6, X7, and X8 can import up to Acrobat 9 (PDF 1.7), it can also import PDF/A and some PDF/X Corel say they support Adobe programs up to CS6 For information - CorelDraw can open an Acrobat 9 (PDF 1.7) that is exported from Serif DrawPlus, so I don't think it's entirely a problem with CorelDraw
alain_bn
Hi there, I have also been experiencing problems when exporting to PDF using the export persona. I do produce a PFD, however, there is an 'unwanted' effect injected into the PDF. Appearing as a white drop shadow around a rasterized text graphic (the text is a title in white with a black drop shadow - with the white directly below, and to the right of the drop shadow). When I export as a EPS then convert with Adobe Distiller to a PDF the problem does not appear. I would love to attach the two different files here, however, for some reason I am unable to attach them.
KoBu
When I try to open "normal" AD-pdfs with CorelDraw X7, I get the message: file is corrupted. Now I opened a pdf in my "PDF XChange Viewer" (without problems) and saved it again. Now I can open the pdf in CorelDraw trouble-free, too. It seems that CorelDraw is very sensitive and the export in ADwin contains something unexpected. Maybe ADwin is slightly different from the pdf-standard? Alfred
I would love to attach the two different files here, however, for some reason I am unable to attach them. This forum seems to have various anti-spam measures in place, one of which is to disallow attachments for the first few posts. If you don't have some web space of your own, you will either have to use a file-sharing site (less than ideal, since links often expire after a few days) or wait until you've made a some more posts.
