MC1 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 (edited) This happens to me too (Publisher 2, Windows 11, output is viewed in Acrobat or Edge PDF viewer) if the link is generated from selected text which had been rotated. See the screenshot below, this is a text box that was rotated, then each line has been selected and made a hyperlink to the relevant page. The black area is the link area that Acrobat sees for Page 4. Publisher and PDF file is attached (reattached after editing typo on page 5 & 6)) link-hot-area-problem-example.afpub link-hot-area-problem-example.pdf Edited August 13, 2024 by MC1 Quote
Hangman Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Hi @MC1, I've tested rotated hyperlinks using Apple Pages and they work correctly when exported to PDF so this is clearly a bug but I'm unsure whether it's already logged, I couldn't find a bug reference for it so it may not be... I think as a workaround you would need to set up two hyperlinks for each rotated line of text, one for the Page text and a second for the page number, i.e., This would result in the hyperlinks working as expected... MC1 Posted August 14, 2024 Author Posted August 14, 2024 Thanks for the suggestion hangman and for looking into it. Unfortunately many people click on the centre of these lines. The workaround I use in practice is not putting any links on the text itself, and making the links using transparent rectangles, then overlay these ever the text. This is a PITA but the only way round it I can find. Quote
MC1 Posted August 14, 2024 Author Posted August 14, 2024 PS Whoever moved this to be a new topic, thank you. Quote
Hangman Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 That's no problem at all, I was curious to see what was actually happening... If the whole line needs to act as a hyperlink, then I agree, a transparent rectangle would be the only practical solution but as you say a PITA especially if you have tens or hundreds to do... This will be picked up by someone in the moderation team and logged as a bug (if it's not already) but I'm unsure how quickly we'll see a fix...
