Publisher Won't Let Me Remove Dotted Guides From a Page When I Opened an InDesign Page Layout File.

Recommended Posts

Hi D Friends and the Team,

Haven't seen you for a while, I hope yr all well. that's good by the way. ;)

Publisher won't let Remove those Dotted Lines or Guides that came in with an

In Design Page Layout File in IDML Format. It Opened if fine, quick and easy.

(see screenshot below)

But then I noticed these Dotted Horizontal Almost like Dotted Guide Lines,

and I can not remove them for the life of me.

I've Removed all other Guides, turned off Baseline, and when I checked Publisher's

Guide Tool, it shows No Guides whatsoever, anywhere, I can remove column Guides and every thing

else except these Dotted Lines, at first glance I thought they were my Baseline Guides, because they

go all the way from Top of Page to Bottom, and look just like yr Baseline guides, but mine is turned off.

It's really annoying because it's the whole page so I can't even get a clean page view unless, ok that worked partly. I can use my "Q" SHORTCUT to clear everything off the page when needed and I can also actually Colour these Dotted Guide by changing their Colour to Transparent, or any other Colour, and my own Guides change colour as well, as they are meant to.

So now at least we know that these things must be Guides of some kind. I just can not find any other settings to turn these off, any ideas would be greatly appreciated, Thanks D Friends.

Cheers Kiwi ❤️

Have you checked any master pages for guides on them?

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

As others have said it is probably on the Master Page. One other thing to look at is the lines may be locked as well. I do that time to time if I am not using a Master page and have something like this, just lock it so I am not selecting it while I work on other aspects of the design.
