bediicco Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Hi, I often have to call up the help pages to read something. Unfortunately, I always have to leave the document, return to the start page, then open the help, close the help, open the document again. Can I also open the help browser directly in a document popup? (I don't want to read via webbrowser) Quote Affinity on iPad 🙌🏻 headless on mac mini 🍎
walt.farrell Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 The in-app help is not available separately on iPad. Your choice is to operate as you are (leave the document, open the Help, leave the Help, open the document) or to use a web browser via https://affinity.help which will be much easier. I'm curious why you don't want to do that, given that it solves your problem? bediicco Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 The help button down right has only the function to display tooltips on hold. It is predictable that a single click will open the help in the popup window as the in-app help otherwise appears. Why this is not so is an absolute mystery to me. Are you suggesting that the function of that button should be enhanced? As you pointed out, it has 1 function today, and that isn't it. It's only function today is to explain the meanings of the current buttons/objects in the user interface, not to explain how anything works. Tell me, do you feel personally attacked or why are you so vehemently against it? It is a button and the symbol is a question mark. Each program (positive UX) provides help everywhere and not only limited on the start page. A button should also have a function when it is pressed and not only when it is held. I see no point at all in not offering it there and i see absolutely no difficulty in implementing it. What interests me particularly: Where do you see a consistent behavior in the use of the buttons in the app if exactly this button has only this one function, namely to equip self-explanatory icons with tooltips? What is the value of having exactly only this one function? Those tooltips is just a short startup tutorial. Quote Affinity on iPad 🙌🏻 headless on mac mini 🍎
walt.farrell Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 I merely asked for clarification of what you meant. You've given it. Thanks. Feel free to post an enhancement request in the Feedback forum, and the developers will consider it in their planning.
