Artistwright Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Hello all, does anyone know how to prevent these repeating lines? spacing is set to 1% in brush editing which is the lowest it allows. Im looking for a smooth output. Thanks in advance (Affinity Designer 2.5.3, Mac) Quote
GarryP Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 I think one method might be to make the brush much larger than you need it to be (maybe twice the size) and then use it at a smaller size (the size that you want it to be). I haven’t checked this but I remember doing something similar not so long ago. Quote
Artistwright Posted August 15, 2024 Author Posted August 15, 2024 Hi Garry thanks for the recommendation, I see what you mean I also find it seems to work better sometimes. But i'm trying to keep the brush size relatively small, due to such low spacing its more intensive on the computer. Quote
GarryP Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 I don’t know if there’s much more you can do with a small brush to stop the ‘gaps’ but I’m not an expert in this area. Have you checked/changed any of the Opacity, Flow, Hardness, Wet Edges settings and/or the Blend Mode on the Context Toolbar? In this case I would try Opacity = 100%, Flow = 100%, Hardness (if you can change it) = 100%, Blend Mode = Normal, Wet Edges = OFF. Quote
Artistwright Posted August 16, 2024 Author Posted August 16, 2024 Hi Garry, Thanks for your response. Yes I have tried numerous ways of making it less obvious, like the options you mentioned above. If only I could change hardness that would be the ticket. So instead I made exported the PNG brush head with Gaussian blue and it still didn't work. I definitely find the brush head works better with no opacity in the PNG layer to prevent that issue, but obviously as this brush has some opacity to get the tube effect I'm stuck with it I guess. I appreciate your help Quote
GarryP Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 You’re welcome. It’s a pity I can’t help further but others may be able to - it's a complex area that takes a lot of time to properly get to grips with. Hopefully someone who knows more about this will come by and give you some better advice than I can. Artistwright 1 Quote
