Hello, I work with Affinity Publisher 2.

The printing company recommends PDF/X-3:2002 as a print template to avoid possible color deviations!

Can someone tell me why PDF/X-3:2002 is not available in my Affinity Publisher 2 export?

Attached: Screenshot.

Thanks

The PDF/X-3 norm exists in 2 flavours, 2001 (2002) and 2003. The latter bringing only compatibility with the PDF 1.4 version, without any transparency or JBIG2 compression.

Use this and your printer should be happy, if he really recommends such an old standard.

As far as I know, Serif has not documented the reason for users.

Probable reasons may be:

  • The small difference between the two versions.
  • A preference for the newer, improved version.
  • To avoid confusion and questions when offering both versions or the older only.
  • An outdated, not updated version requirement of the printing service…?

Is there a reason not to use the available version or any specific feature that you / the printing company want to avoid in the available version?
(and is there a need to submit a post with a font size that seems to shout and even requires horizontal scrolling?)
