Hangman Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 There is no visual feedback to indicate a style selection in the Styles Panel on Mac, unlike on Windows... GarryP Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 Unless I’m not correctly understanding what’s been said, what you seem to be calling a bug here is what someone else is asking for elsewhere: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/212738-styles-keep-being-selected/ Or, to put that another way, what you want here was being called a bug there. Hangman Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 Hi @GarryP, This was more to do with the fact that on Mac there is no indication at all when selecting Styles... On Windows, you see a light blue highlight indicating the physical selection, on Mac, there is no highlight at all. This should probably be added (if not already included) to AF-3891 where we have the same issue with the Assets and Symbols palettes... The post you linked to I would say is a different issue but I'm equally unsure what the expected behaviour is since if you have either a Style, Asset or Symbol selected in their respective panels, drawing a new shape that uses the default light grey fill leaves the last selected Style, Asset or Symbol selected again in their respective panels... GarryP Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 I guess this may be one of those things that’s probably best left with Serif to sort out which way they want to do things. I hardly ever use Styles, and I don’t use Assets or Symbols much, so I don’t really have a preference either way. Quote
Hangman Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 Absolutely... part of the equation is understanding what the expected behaviour is in the first place... Staff stokerg Posted August 14, 2024 Staff Posted August 14, 2024 Hi @Hangman, I've logged this with the Developers to and linked it to AF-3891 Personally, with these areas of the app, I think they should match on both Operating Systems as it just makes for a more unified look of the app. Quote
Hangman Posted August 14, 2024 Author Posted August 14, 2024 Hi @stokerg, Thanks for logging and linking... 1 minute ago, stokerg said: Personally, with these areas of the app, I think they should match on both Operating Systems as it just makes for a more unified look of the app. I completely agree, I would advocate the Windows approach for these three particular panels, i.e., a selection shows the Asset, Symbol or Style with a system coloured highlight to indicate what is actually selected in the respective panels... stokerg 1 Quote Affinity Designer 2.6.3 | Affinity Photo 2.6.3 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.3 MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse
