With my finished project I want to export it as a JPEG to my JPEG folder, as a PNG to my PNG folder and a SVG to my SVG folder.
ThreeFolders.png.e6ee9d5e4a98b3dcf7a2d00aabf0c785.png

Then I want to save this export as a preset so I can choose the same things (including folder paths) in the future.

I can only export the three file types to a common folder then after export I have to use my file manager to drag them into their respective folders manually?
Are you kidding me with this?

It won't even let me save my setup as an export preset for some reason.
CreatePreset.png.5ccd62a180120e9f9ec5e31357915b01.png

In the future if I want to do the basic task of rendering one picture three times to three different folders I will have to click on their own export button every single time and choose their folder path, as if the human user never took those exact same steps with a different picture in the past.

Why can I not do this?

Take a look at the export persona

It can create your jpg, png, svg folders for you and save the relevant file type to each one

It also has presets so you only have to set it up once

If you have not delved deep into the export person before, grab a coffee or ten

My complaint and my example pic is taken directly from the export persona.
I want to make a preset that can export as I noted above but I don't know how.  I'm assuming you can't because I've tried everything.

Your complaint is unfounded as you can do what you have asked

Like I hinted, the export persona is very powerful but complicated

Delve deeper

 From the Help file

  • You can copy and replace export set up options from one slice to another using Copy/Replace found on the top of the panel. You can also create your own export set up presets from Panel Preferences (Hamburger icon)

I had to delve deeper alright.

It takes an eagle eye to see the html bar that the first google result on the export persona sends you to Affinity Photo 2 help, not Designer 2 help.
The help doesn't say you have to have the entire preset selected with a click before you can save it as a preset (otherwise it's greyed out).
I didn't even find the help until I used the hyperlinks on the bottom of other helps to get to it.
Nothing was telling me why it kept converting my forward slashes into back slashes.
Nothing told me that the main "single export" preset doesn't remember folder paths (they end up backwards).  Only if you create a slice then use that newly created slice as your export preset, then it works as it should.

Well, I got it finally, and it was a simple as this:
PathComponents.png.802262c191b55e39be7e05b1f1a34c74.png

I still have to choose my parent folder every time but close enough.
I can actually use the PNG/JPG/SVG child folder layout for every type of picture genre.  As long as those three child folders are named the same, AD2 won't know the difference; and I can use that same export preset for any genre that I've set up.

I had faith you would find it, once you got past all the negativity in your first post and went looking for it

Though, that export persona could be a bit lot more user friendly as could the help file

It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it.  😎

You DON'T SAY.  How bout that.  It's almost as if I already put in hours of work on the problem before posting this thread.

I used my custom export presets like five times in a row.
Then later went to go make another preset and suddenly the presets that worked fine before have "bad formatting".
The system added a slash to the beginning.  I removed that slash and now the preset doesn't export anything.
Awesome.

It's because I hadn't yet renamed my project.  It was still "untitled" and maybe the 'Document Name' code doesn't work with the < > brackets.  My bad.

Can I delete out these entries that I'll never use once in my life?

Is there an .nfo file I can modify somewhere or something?

Nah, I can be pretty short with people.  I just wish he would have shown me the answer in the first comment.
If he didn't mention that this is possible I would have given up and never have accomplished my export setup, so that's a thing.

I have a pack of 7" x 7" card paper that I can print basic things on.  I've printed out a few of my creations to see my work physically.

But I'm keeping my 'basic' style projects at 640 x 640 pixels.  I wonder if there is a slice setting that can export to a folder but also resize it to my 7 inch x 7 inch size (keeping the aspect ratio) for printing?  If I want to print out the pic I just have to reference that printing folder and all the pics in there would be the 7 x 7 size.
All we seem to have is this drop down menu.  ?

Also is there any way for projects to be saved out to multiple folders?
Would be nice if the Ctrl + S 'save' would save the project in two locations (user sets up multiple locations at the time of choosing their 'Save As' path).  One standard location and one location for backup to a cloud.

It appears unclear what you want to achieve with this way of a "backup". Since Affinity document files can become corrupted while saving, your requested workflow could result in two corrupted documents with no efficient backup.

Usually a backup works differently and does not overwrite ('Save') a file multiple times but creates additional copies instead, thus allowing to have a previously saved document in case the current working document becomes corrupted.

However, since a general app hardly offers backup features (unless automatical save-as + renaming) you possibly may use a separate app specialised for file organisation like backups. With the macOS tool "Automator" you can easily setup a "Folder Action" that automatically copies new or modified files of a specified folder (e.g. "folder A") into a certain folder B. – I assume there are similar simple options available in or for Windows.
