HI

I have been trying for 2 hours now and can't manage it
I'm trying to recreate the picture and cut it out with the laser afterwards

Picture
But I can't even manage to create the shapes like this
the text would not be a problem with the warp effect
but I can't do the rest
are there any tips on how to create it?

Hi @HerbTHEberT, Welcome to the Affinity Forums!

You could start with the Cog Tool, once the cog shape is setup as wanted, subtract it from an ellipse shape, then create a clipping shape to limit the nested result at its bottom edge as desired.

Why not copy paste the image into affinity and then use the pen tool to trace over the shapes. So, start by drawing a circle for the outer edge, next use the pen and node tool to draw and manipulate the curves.

This is how I would approach it. It is not complicated, would be easier if you could trace. End of the day you just need cut contours around all the various shapes, the rest is up to your laser cutter software.

Thanks for the readjustment with the cog tool

I had already tried a bit with these for the Sun, only i didnt manage to get the rays so distorted with the warp effect

sorry next i post the picture directly

yes i had already considered that but i thought there might be another approach to it like the one with the sun and the cog tool

especially that it doesn't become such a frizzle then because I didn't want to redraw the text but take a different font

You can still use the cog tool or draw a slim rectangle to create the sun rays but theres no getting away from the micro editing, i.e. rounding corners etc, You'll notice the sun shine isn't particularly uniform and the problem is that graphic was probably hand drawn, digitally, which gives it it's charm. You also have to consider, how the cutter/engraver will follow the paths/curves you create.
