Hello,

I need to rotate an image, which is easy enough.  However, I also need the assets in the image rotated to match up again. How can I select/copy part of an image that is all on the same layer and then repaste it in a different direction? Refer to pictures below: Top image is original hexagonal direction. I want to rotate the board so it's like the bottom image, but I need the colored hexagons/lines to rotate accordingly.

Don't suppose you have the file that can be uploaded here do you or is the actual image the one we are looking at?

Just to clarify, this image is all one and in a flattened state, i.e. a single image layer?

Ps. this is from a game I assume?

Yes, it is just one single image layer. I hired someone to create this for me and they sent the finished product as a single layer image. I reached out, but the person doesn't have the separate layers. Otherwise, I could have solved this issue myself already. Here is the file though.

The problem is you don't have enough of the background image, you can cut and paste the hexagons to a new layer but you still have the problem of a background that is only viewable around the edges. I'm surprised they didn't save the layered version, that's a bit odd.

So if you selected all of the hexagons, cut and pasted them to a new layer and then rotated them, this is how it would look.

Yeah... It was a while ago, but he said that's all he had. Is there a way to make a mask around the assets and then paste them in a new layer. Then use the healing brush or inpainting tool to erase the old ones?

Here is the document I made... I have saved the selection as a spare channel so it can be loaded in again.

it's 322.5mb but the board size is very large so...

Have a play with the mesh warp as well.  scrap that try the patch tool instead seems to give better results.

That's really close already. I've never used that tool. My knowledge is mainly from a Udemy course hah. Have to figure out how to also take those darkened lines along the edges and rotate them too. That may be more difficult. I'm not sure what technique he used to make that cliff-side design.
