I can't open the applications

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I installed the Afinity Publisher 2, Afinity Photo 2 and Afinity Design 2 applications. The installation went smoothly, but I can't open the applications. The application opening process starts, but when the login screen appears, it closes immediately.
What can I do to solve this?

Welcome to the Affinity forums, @Dunham.

Immediately, as in before you enter the information and click Activate? Or after you click Activate?

What kind of computer do you have, and what kind of processor does it have, and what OS do you use?

Also, did you install using the MSIX installers or the EXE/MSI installers?

I do not know if it makes any difference but you have not answered @walt.farrell's query about when the app closes.

In your video you search for the application (rather than simply looking in the Start menu under All Applications) but the results you got suggest that you have multiple copies of the applications installed. It would be useful to see what the Start menu actually contains, without doing that Search.

If it really shows multiple copies installed, I would start by uninstalling all of them, and reinstalling just 1 version of each of the applications.

Good morning
Unfortunately, there was no way to solve the Affiity problem. I uninstalled everything, reinstalled it, and even installed it from the Microsoft Store, but I still can't solve the problem. The application only opens as follows:
1. Press Ctrl and click to open the application
2. In the tab that appears, select Disable hardware acceleration.

I understand that this is a palliative and non-technical solution, since disabling OpenCl can certainly impact the performance of a graphics application.

I have the following system:
Lenovo Legion 5G gaming laptop
RAM: 32GB
AMD Rysen 7-5800h processor
Nvidia RTX 3050 card,
Windows 11 Pro 23h2 licensed and updated
The video card driver is up to date.
In addition, Adobe Photoshop works correctly and with hardware acceleration active.
I tried for days to find a solution with Affinite support and no indication of action was given other than disabling hardware acceleration.
In view of the export, I consider Affinite to be without the necessary capacity to solve the problem and therefore decided to stop using it and stick with Adobe Photoshop.
