Cadarnfel Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 I don't want to store Affinity documents in iCloud Drive - how do I get the apps to stop listing it as a location in the Save dialogue boxes? I've deleted the folders the apps have created in iCloud, turned off the app syncing in System Settings, but the location is still showing up, and will create the iCloud folder if I select it. I know I can just ignore it, but why are the apps ignoring the system setting. version 2.5.3 running on macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 On a semi-related note, if I do allow the iCloud folders to be created, the Designer folder doesn't get the app icon overlay - this has been a problem through a few versions of both Designer and macOS. Photo and Publisher correctly show the icon overlay, and both my Mac Studio and my MacBook Pro laptop have this issue, as well as the Files app on my iPhone. Logging into iCloud.com, and browsing the folders, Designer has the overlay there. user_0815 Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 What you see in the sidebar in the save dialog comes form the Finder app. Afaik Affinity cannot change that. You'll need to remove it in Finder by dragging it out of the sidebar. Quote

R C-R Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 AFAIK, there is no way to prevent iCloud from showing showing up as a possible save location. This is true not just for the Affinity apps but also Apple ones like TextEdit, so I do not think there is anything Serif/Canva can do to change that. IOW, it is an OS level feature, not an app level one. What you can do is to hide iCloud folders from showing up in the sidebar -- just hover the pointer over the right side of the word "iCloud" & "Hide" should appear, so clicking that will hide the folders but not the iCloud location itself. user_0815 Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 Strange. Now that I double-checked it, I can see it as well on the save-dialog. I've never recognised it. I can't remove it, only drag it up/down to re-arrange. Quote

Can you not also hide any folders it shows so you only see the iCloud name but not any items in it, as you can do with Favorites, Locations, & Tags? user_0815 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.6 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7
user_0815 Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 Yes that’s possible. But then also all document folders get collapsed. This is when iCloud Drive for documents is enabled. They will show under iCloud but not under Mac HD. If it’s not enabled then this is indeed a way to get (visually) rid of it. Actually the only one I can think of atm. Quote

I'm not sure what you mean by all document folders getting collapsed. By "all" do you mean for all the other items like Favorites, Tags, etc. or something else? user_0815 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 By that I mean all that are under iCloud. Quote
Cadarnfel Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 thanks everyone, I guess I'll live with it for now - it's not a major bug, just an annoyance. At least the Save dialogue remembers the last location used, and that's my local folder, so I can't accidentally save to iCloud.
