MartinKirk Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 I'm having problems using Affinity Photo V2 for RAW development of my DJI Air 3 photos. I've attached some screenshots. The images are 48 Mpixel DNG / RAW and the sensor is Quad Bayer which require some processing to remove the Moire and other artifacts. RAW: RAW: JPG (processed in camera, which also have some artifacts, but better handled than Affinity Photo) Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 The DJI Mavic Air 3 is listed as supported for Photo 2.5. What OS do you use? If macOS or iPadOS, are you using the Serif Raw Engine or the Apple Raw Engine? (Photo Settings, Assistant Options, Develop Assistant) Are you running 2.5? Can you supply one of the Raw photos? You can use another application, such as the Adobe DNG Converter if you want, to Develop or Convert the file. But on Windows, within Affinity Photo, you have no choice for an alternative when you Open a Raw file. Sorry, I'm not sure what the best approach is with an image like that. I'm not sure that it indicates a problem with handling the Quad Bayer sensor, but perhaps someone from the Affinity team will be able to figure out something. I think this is a very difficult image to work with due to the lighting, almost shooting into the sun. But yes, there is some heavy moire caused by the roofing material and I could only get that removed by using some heavy Noise reduction using the luminance only. bestman 8 Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 not affinity but this is in darktable using amaze (in demosaic settings) and the default settings for chromatic abberation correction. it often seems that this preforms really well with miore and some other things. Quote
MartinKirk Posted August 16, 2024 Author Posted August 16, 2024 Hi everyone. I've downloaded ON1 RAW engine and it seems to do really well with DJI Air 3 . Moire is gone CA is handled very good I dont have a screenshot to post right now and am considering if i should throw money at that program or try getting an Adobe PS+LR subscription instead. Affinity 2.5 isn't really my favorite program and ever since i purchased 1.0 i havent really used it much 😕 but if Affinity 2.5 cant handle my DJI Air 3 photos, then theres no point in using it Quote

Staff Lee D Posted August 16, 2024 Staff Posted August 16, 2024 @MartinKirk I've passed this over to the developers to investigate further to see if improvements can be made to how Chromatic Aberration is handled. Quote
