Why is every letter in my text on a circle slightly rotated clockwise?

That was a bug years ago. Looks like you have a very old version of Designer. The bug is not in 1.10.8, which was the last of the 1 series on macOS.

I am running Affinity Designer version 1.10.8.

Please upload your test Affinity document to the forum

If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

In creating this test file, I notice that the bug (every character is independently rotated a few degrees) coincides with horizontal scaling of the text (as applied in the “Positioning and Transform” section of the “Character” studio). When text is scaled less than 100%, the characters rotate clockwise; when text is scaled more than 100%, the characters rotate counter-clockwise.

Thanks for the test file. I can confirm this also happens in 2.5.3

It was logged as a bug in 2019

Not sure if it was fixed then and has resurfaced but probably best to make a new bug report in the bugs forum (just copy your above post with the 2 screenshots)

Oh yes, I see that has never been fixed.

The bug that was fixed years ago very noticeably rotated each character when the characters were 100% wide.

@jAffinitySerif, @lepr, @Alfred & @carl123 - please note I have 'split' this discussion from the Tutorial post to a new thread in the correct section of the Forums, you may want to 'Follow' the post here to be notified of new replies.

In regards to the issue being reported, I can confirm that I'm able to replicate this in both V1 & v2 of the Affinity apps, therefore I'm getting it logged with our team now - referencing the report linked by Carl above.

I hope this helps :)
