Inpaint not available in Photo (Pixel layer)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been trying to figure this out for the past couple of hours and been through the forums. My problem is that I've opened a normal jpg in the photo persona, it's the only layer (pixel) but the INPATIENT feature just isn't available. When I go through the Edit menu it's greyed out.

Any reason for this or anything I could be missing? I've tried different photos as well!

Thanks

Hi London_hh,

Welcome to the Forums :)

The Inpainting tool in the Edit menu is for use with a selection, If you switch to the Rectangular Marquee Tool [M] select  part of your image then go to Edit > Inpaint you should see that it works :) If you would like to use the Inpainting tool free hand without a selection you can do so by holding left click on the Healing Brush tool to bring up the flyout menu and then select the Inpainting tool from there.

Hi London_hh,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

That menu command only becomes available if you have a pixel selection active. To use it draw a selection around the subject you want to remove, then go to menu Edit ▸ Inpaint.

Alternatively you can simply use the Inpainting Brush Tool to paint over the area you want to remove/fill. To use it click on the arrow near the Healing Brush Tool to display a pop up menu with more tools, select the Inpainting Brush Tool and paint over the area you want to remove/affect.
