GarryP Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 See attached video where I zoom in and out with a simple curve, first without an end cap (looks fine), then with an end cap (looks weird). I searched the Windows bugs section for end cap but didn’t find anything similar. 2024-08-09 09-41-05.mp4 Quote
Staff stokerg Posted August 12, 2024 Staff Posted August 12, 2024 Hi @GarryP, I think this is just a redraw issue. When i try this on my Windows laptop, i get the issue for a brief second and then it corrects itself. I also tried this on another PC which showed the issue better and didn't correct itself but on selecting that Curve and using Layer>Expand Stoke or Rasterise, the issue then disappears. As does simply zooming in or out again. If you Rasterise or Expand Stroke on that curve when it shows glitches, do they disappear or are they still present? If still present, please attach your afdesign file. Quote
GarryP Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 I managed to see the same problem in two new documents on the day but unfortunately I can’t seem to replicate it today, no matter how much I try. I’m happy to chalk this one up as ‘just one of those things’. stokerg 1 Quote
Hangman Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 FWIW, I see the same screen redraw behaviour on both Windows and Mac regardless of whether Hardware Acceleration is enabled or not... GarryP Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 For some reason I’m not seeing the problem today. I wonder if it’s because I haven’t had Designer open for hours like I had when I saw the problem. Hangman 1 Quote
Hangman Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 I can replicate it if I zoom out and then slowly zoom in on both Windows and Mac even after an App reboot to test whether Hardware Acceleration made any difference so I don't think that's the issue... GarryP Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 I see that I originally posted on a Friday, so maybe I’ll have to try it again this Friday, just to see if that’s the cause. Ah, no, hang on a sec... I’ve just noticed that in my video I was using an A4 document where the stroke size was measured in mm, whereas my later testing was done in a FHD document where the UOM was in pixels. @stokerg I tried to replicate the problem, with a clean launch of Designer, with an A4 document (attached) and the problem is back. Using Expand Stroke on the curve works as expected and the result looks fine (apart from the ‘end cap overlay thing’ which is already known about). end-cap-zoom-issue.afdesign Quote
