Rookie question: When I save pics modified in Photo 2 and reopen, I get the pic along with all the surrounding Photo 2 template graphics. Example attached.  How do I save after finishing with modifications so I get the pic only? Thank you.

Welcome to the forums @rpy0412 :)

I'm unclear on what you mean by template graphics? I downloaded your file (thanks for providing that), and I see you have 2 adjustment layers along with the image (pixel) layer.

If you mean you don't want the adjustment layers, you need to Export it. Go to the File>Export, then choose what format, JPG, PNG, or some other. Choose the settings for the format, then export. The afphoto file is like a working format.

If that's not what you are wanting to do, then could you be more specific?

If you particularly want an APhoto file without the layers, just flatten the file before saving it.

I'll try to explain it better. When I finish working on a photo, save it, and reopen, I get what looks like a capture of the screen when I was modifying the photo, i.e. all the icons, buttons etc. that appear above and on both sides of the photo when you're modifying it.  On the left are the tool icons, above at the very top are file, edit, text, document, layer, etc., the personna icons, auto levels, auto contrast, etc. Icons. and so on. Ditto down the right. Again, it looks as if I'd taken a screen shot while working on the photo. I'm trying to figure out how to save so that I get just the edited photo itself when I reopen the file. Hope that makes more sense. Thanks.

Your attached photo just shows a normal image, not what you seem to be describing! When you open an APhoto file it will open in APhoto, are you expecting to see just the image on your screen, without the software interface?

Try this: Open the image that's giving your trouble.

Take a screenshot.

Post the screenshot here as a JPG or PNG image, and let us see what you're seeing.

You mean this - Affinity application interface, with opening your photo?

and reopen

By "Reopen" do you mean opening the file/photo via the Open command (menu File -> Open), or by double-clicking on the file in the File explorer/Finder, when the appropriate application (probably APhoto) with its working environment is launched, and at the same time the selected file is opened?

It sounds like you are describing the application's user interface (UI for short). This is the way the Affinity apps normally open (so that you have access to the tools, panels, & menus so you can use them to modify the document).

If you want to hide all of that for some reason, just press the Tab key on your keyboard. It is a toggle so pressing it repeatedly with show & hide the UI. You can also find this command at the bottom of the View menu.

OTOH, if you want to export the photo to another format like JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or whatever to get rid of the Affinity UI, you can do that via File > Export or in AD or AP via the Export persona.

And thanks for the screenshot. But as I mentioned earlier, and for future reference, it's best to post them as simple JPG or PNG images. Or even simply paste the screenshot directly from your clipboard into a post.

That way we can see it directly, without having to download a file and open it in an application.
