walt.farrell Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 On macOS, we can see a Text Input section in Publisher's Settings, Shortcuts: That section allows displaying and changing the shortcuts for various text-related functions: That entire section of Shortcuts is missing on Windows. The Windows version of Publisher supports many (most? all?) of those functions, but: We can't see what the shortcuts are that are implemented by default; and We can't change them. It would be very helpful to Windows users if this discrepancy between Windows and macOS was fixed. (Note: This has been mentioned and discussed in a few threads, but as far as I have found it has not been logged anywhere.) Staff stokerg Posted August 12, 2024 Staff Posted August 12, 2024 Hi @walt.farrell, I've just double-checked this with QA, as sometimes when options are missing on Windows, it's due to use hooking into a service provided by MacOS. In this case, the Text Input options are a standard MacOS feature and when we first released Affinity you couldn't change these shortcuts. Then due to feedback from MacOS users, they were added to the Shortcuts section so users could change these. So they shouldn't be present on Windows and this would be a Feature Request to implement those Shortcuts on Windows and add them to Settings>Shortcuts. I'll get this post moved to Feature Requests Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 Thanks, @stokerg. While we're waiting for that, it might at least be nice to document what the default shortcuts are on Windows. They're mostly documented in the help system. Filter by "Text" https://affinity.help/publisher2/English.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Workspace/shortcuts.html&title=Keyboard shortcuts Some are inferred - a tip tells you to press Shift with the listed shortcuts if you want to select text, but they're not explicitly listed. A couple are missing. e.g., Move Story Begin/End I've listed them all in my manual but it's not a single list, it's broken up in the various topics. walt.farrell 1 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.5, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)
