 I hope this is the right area for this question.  If not please feel free to delete!

Hi everyone! I am currently a complete newbie to any and all vector design programs and I am wanting to make a sticker design to use in my cricut. I was given a tutorial on how to do it but it was recommended I use a vector program to first design the sticker and then send over to cricut to print and cut. I have tried to recreate the below picture in Affinity and I am so lost :( I get to the part where I select and fill in the objects and I can't seem to find how to weld them together (step 3). I don't actually know what to do after step 3 either, I am so lost. I've watched a couple of videos on beginner tutorials for Affinity as well and its made me even more confused :( Would anyone be able to help me out on how to achieve the below picture in Affinity? Thank you so very much to anyone who can help!! I really appreciate it!

An alternative method, if you have all three Affinity applications, can be seen in my attached video.

The essential actions are:

  1. Open the image in Publisher;
  2. Go to the Photo Persona;
  3. Make a pixel selection of the area you are interested in;
  4. Go to the Publisher Persona;
  5. Make sure that the pixel layer is selected and Copy;
  6. Paste to get a new Pixel layer;
  7. Use Edit Wrap Outline;
  8. Copy;
  9. Paste to get a new Curve layer;
  10. Set the Fill to White (or whatever you want the background to be);
  11. Go to the Designer Persona;
  12. Use the Contour Tool to expand the curve;
  13. Drag the copied Pixel layer into the Curve layer (in the Layers panel, drag the Pixel layer onto the name of the Curve layer);
  14. De-select as necessary.

It takes longer to describe the steps than it takes to actually do them.

(Part of the above is the technique described here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/179630-unexpected-feature-vectorize-a-bitmap-image-directly-in-publisher/ )

Welcome!

Clip the image to the shape. To do this, drag Ariel on to the shape layer (on the text).

For the white outline I would add a contour.

I don't know what WELD means.
