Greg L Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Paid and installed Affinity 2 photo for Win 10 (used msix install) today. Surprised to find NO Affinity entries on start menu apps, NO Affinity install folders found on 😄/program files or c:/program files (x86) and there is NO entry in Control Panel, Programs and Features for Affinity. The only way I found to run Affinity was create a shortcut to the exe file in a user appdata folder. I am totally confused. Please help. Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Welcome to the Affinity forums, Greg. As you've used the MSIX, it should appear in the standard Windows Start menu, and does for me on at least 4 Windows machines that I have used. But some users use alternatives to the standard Windows Start menu, and MSIX apps may not show up in them. You will not find anything in Program Files because MSIX programs install into the hidden (by Windows itself) WindowsApps folder. (Nor in Program Files (x86) as that is only for 32-bit applications, and Affinity is 64-bit.) If you can confirm you're using the standard Windows Start menu, and using a supported Windows release (e.g., not an Insider build of some kind) then something odd is happening. Greg L Posted August 7, 2024 Author Posted August 7, 2024 Thanks Walt. Yes, I am using the standard Windows Start menu and Windows version 22H2. If Affinity doesn't appear in Programs and Features either then, if I need to, how would I uninstall Affinity? Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I only have Windows 11 available right now, but I would Open Windows Settings, then click on Apps, then Installed Apps. Since you mentioned Programs & Features I think you may be using Control Panel rather than Settings, and Control Panel is old and doesn't understand MSIX applications. Settings does understand them. Greg L Posted August 7, 2024 Author Posted August 7, 2024 Thank you Walt. I've just checked in Win Settings, Apps and Affinity is there as well as the option to uninstall. Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 The strange thing is, if Affinity Photo is there, it really should also be in the standard Windows Start menu, so if it's not that sounds like a Windows issue.
